The sailing team at Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School was crowned champion at the 2014 New Jersey Interscholastic Sailing Association (NJISA) League State Championship Regatta on May 17.

The RFH team earned nine first-place finishes in sixteen races held at the Shrewsbury Sailing and Yacht Club in Oceanport, besting the competition with 30 points overall.

The team was led by RFH senior skipper Connor Swikart and sophomore crew Teddy Schroeder in “A” division, and senior skipper Charlotte List and sophomore crew Addie Sellig in “B” division. Additional team members contributing to the day’s success were seniors Evan Lenza, Tommy Lyons, and Billy Perkins, and sophomore Michael Munger.

Eleven teams competed in Monmouth University’s fleet of FJ Class sailboats in the event, which was sponsored by the University and the Shrewsbury Sailing and Yacht Club.

Runners-up in the Regatta were second-place winner Christian Brothers Academy with 44 points, and third-place finisher Shore Regional High School with 61 points.
