HOCKEY: RBC GOES THROUGH THE ROOF IN WIN

An unusual pass through the roof trusses sparked a three-goal surge in the final 1:22 of play as Red Bank Catholic topped Rumson-Fair Haven on the ice at the Red Bank Armory Wednesday. After Will Catalono put R-FH in the lead with six minutes to go, Kyle Amato tied things up, and then the Caseys’ Evan Hoey sent a pass that went through the roof supports and fell down to Alec Mintz, who delivered the game winner. CHAMPS IN 2013, R-FH TRIES TO STAY HUNGRY

How do you top an 11-1 season that ended with a NJSIAA Group II State Championship? After the best football campaign in school history, the Rumson-Fair Haven Regional Bulldogs are starting anew, having lost 32 players to graduation. But the roster still boasts running back Charlie Volker, who steamrolled to more than 2,100 yards and 27 TDs last year, and under Coach Bryan Batchler, the theme this year is “stay hungry.”
