FAIR HAVEN: TENT CITY FOR THE NIGHT

072515fhcampout12072515fhcampout9Under clear skies and much appreciated low heat and humidity, Fair Haven Fields was transformed into a tent city for the borough’s annual Camp Out Saturday night. There, we found fourth-graderĀ Laughlan Forster, above, who told usĀ he was “so excited” about his first-ever camp-out.

redbankgreen paid a visit as families bearing pillows, blankets, bug spray and teddy bears set up for night out on the playing fields.

fhcamping3Several dozen Fair Havenites took part in the annual overnight campout held at Fair Haven Fields recreation area last Friday night.

Or at least, that many started out. It’s not unusual for there to be an outbreak of packing-up and starting of cars around 11p as folks decide that they prefer the comforts of home.

Still, “it appears that no one was lost to starvation, wolves or the woods at the camp out,” Mayor Mike Halfacre wrote on his blog.
