COMMUNITY YMCA HOSTS HEALTHY KIDS DAY

Press release from The Community YMCA

On Saturday, April 26, The Community YMCA‘s Family Health and Wellness Center in Red Bank will be one of three CYMCA facilities in Monmouth County taking part in a free community event, designed to inspire kids to keep their minds and bodies active.

Celebrated at nearly 1,600 Ys across the country, the national YMCA’s Healthy Kids Day® initiative aims to get more kids moving and learning, so they can keep up the habit all summer long — a critical out-of-school time for kids’ health. Research shows that without access to out-of-school physical and learning activities, kids fall behind academically. Kids also gain weight twice as fast during summer than the school year. The April 26 event will feature games, physical activities, arts and crafts, healthy snacks and more to motivate and teach families how to develop a healthy routine at home.

CYMCA EXPANDS HEALTHY KIDS PROGRAM

PhtAquaSwimLessonsPre-K children whose families reside in Red Bank can have access to activities such as swim classes, under a newly expanded program at The Community YMCA.

Press release from The Community YMCA

The Community YMCA is expanding their Healthy Kids membership to include pre-kindergarten students. The healthy living initiative gives all Red Bank youth a special free membership and access to family activities at the Family Health and Wellness Center, located at 166 Maple Avenue in Red Bank.

The program provides opportunities for children to stay active and develop healthy habits by spending time at the Y. This marks the fourth year that this no-cost membership has been offered to all Red Bank  schoolchildren up to 8th grade.

“We have had much success with the Healthy Kids Membership for the last four years,” said Rhonda Anderson, The Community YMCA President and CEO.  “Expanding the program to include pre-k is a natural progression, one that I’m sure will help many families feel confident that their children are in a safe place where they can learn, grow and thrive,” she added.
