HOT-TOPIC_03Red Bank’s Riverview Medical Center was ranked among the worst hospitals in the nation at preventing illnesses and injuries in their facilities, according to a government report issued last week.

As a result, Riverview and three other Monmouth and Ocean county hospitals will lose one percent of their Medicare reimbursements for the fiscal year that started in October under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, known as Obamacare.

CLUB SCRUBS DOWN AFTER INFECTIONS

Red Bank’s Navesink River Rowing club closed for a one-day scrubdown Sunday after officials learned that two young members were diagnosed with a common, antibiotic-resistant infection.

Though there was no evidence the infections were picked up at the club, officers opted to briefly halt rowing activities to disinfect all oars and other equipment as a precaution, operations manager Susan Meltsner tells redbankgreen.
