RED BANK: DID YOU LOSE A BANDED BIRD?

rb pigeon 101614An unresponsive pigeon redbankgreen found standing on Shrewsbury Avenue opposite the G&G Hot Dog truck in Red Bank Thursday afternoon is now getting some TLC.  Borough animal control officer Henry Perez picked up the bird and transported it to the Humane Society in Tinton Falls, where he says the animal will get care while officials try to track down the owner using the ID bands on its legs.

SEA BRIGHT: GUADAGNO HURT IN BIKE CRASH

New Jersey Lieutenant Governor Kim Guadagno was hospitalized after a biking accident in Sea Bright Thursday morning, according to multiple reports.

Guadagno, who lives in the adjoining town of Monmouth Beach, was expected to spend the night at Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune with a broken wrist and elbow, nj.com reported.

A spokesman said Guadagno “stopped suddenly to avoid a vehicle and fell from her bike” while riding early in the morning.

TWO SLIGHTLY INJURED IN TINTON FALLS FIRE

Two Tinton Falls volunteer firefighters were treated for injuries sustained during a noontime fire in Tinton Falls on Thursday, according to a fire official.

Tinton Falls Engine Company #1 Chief Mark Park told redbankgreen that both firefighters were taken to nearby hospitals – one for an unspecified leg injury and the other for heat exhaustion suffered in fighting the blaze, at 85 Reeds Road.

Neither’s injuries were serious, he said, and no one was in the house at the time of the fire, reported at 12:01 p.m.

RED BANK: BIKE AND CAR COLLIDE

A 51-year-old bicyclist was taken to a hospital after a collision with a car on Newman Springs Road Wednesday morning, Red Bank police said.

Alfonso Kelly was transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune with unknown, but non-life-threatening injuries following the 7:28 a.m. accident, said Captain Darren McConnell.

The car’s driver, 17-year-old Lauren Fitzpatrick, of Jackson Township, was issued a summons for failure to yield, McConnell said.
