On a day that is sure to go down in Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School history, four student-athletes earned outstanding achievements in basketball, indoor track and field, and wrestling.

On Saturday March 1, RFH senior basketball player Jack Herrmann became the 18th student in the school’s history to join the 1,000-point club. Herrmann achieved his 1,000th point during a match-up against American History High School in Newark. Herrmann is the first basketball player in 16 years from the RFH boys team to achieve this honor.

On the same day, senior Jacqueline Gottuso took seventh place in the 3200 event at the NJSIAA/Track and Field Meet of Champions at the Bennett Center in Toms River with a time of 4:59.

The Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School girls indoor track and field team captured its third consecutive NJSIAA Central Group II Sectional Championship on Friday, January 31 at the The Bennett Center in Toms River, New Jersey.

As a result of their performances, ten members of RFH girls track and field and two members of RFH boys track and field advanced to the NJSIAA State Group Championship.

RFH Head Coach Tim McLoone attributes this season’s success to his team’s extraordinary depth as well as the upperclassmen’s unselfish dedication to mentoring the younger runners.

“Hardworking and competitive girls like this make coaching easy,” said McLoone. “They are mature and determined in their approach to both training and racing, and this is the result.”

Six student-athletes marked a milestone by signing National Letters of Intent at a ceremony on February 5, in the Lower Library of Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School.

The National Letter of Intent serves as a binding agreement between student-athletes and their collegiate sports programs. The letter, signed on what is known as National Signing Day, marks the last step in the recruitment and commitment process.

Donald Bedell, who appears at number 23 in The Star Ledger list of “New Jersey’s Top 50 Senior Recruits”, will be a defensive end for the Rutgers University football team.

Bedell, who stands 6’4″ and weighs 230 pounds, made a verbal commitment to the Scarlet Knights in June 2013.

His RFH teammate Peter Righi, a 6’3″ 285-pound offensive lineman, signed his National Letter of Intent to play for Monmouth University in West Long Branch.
