At the 16th annual Source Foundation Awards Reception, Red Bank Regional High School Source Director Suzanne Keller introduced the school-based youth service program’s mission as “removing all obstacles that impede a student’s success”  — and on the evening of June 2, several community members were recognized for doing just that.

Motivational speaker Matthew Stevens was honored for his work with Source clinician Sean Macon’s Boys 2 Men program, in inspiring father and son relationships as well as a “dress for success” motivational program.

Three other community volunteers — Jessica Kostenblatt of the Monmouth County Mental Health Organization, Monmouth University student Gianna Cusanelli, and RBR alumnus Luke Roskowinski — shared the Community Partnership award for answering a sudden need that developed in the RBR community.

RED BANK: GIFTS FOR RBR ‘A’ STUDENTS

Recently, a newly appointed dining room at Red Bank’s nonprofit Lunch Break facility hosted this year’s Encourage an “A” Program, operated by The SOURCE at Red Bank Regional High School.

Now in its thirteenth year, the program encourages educational excellence in their students, awarding such gifts as flat screen TVs, HP computers, wireless headphones, a GoPro Camera and many gift cards to eligible students who earn from two to eight “A” grades in their third marking period. This year, 63 students qualified for the incentives, with the value of the gifts increasing with the number of As earned.

A MOVING BLACK HISTORY PROGRAM AT RBR

Every February, Red Bank Regional High School celebrates Black History Month with a heartwarming program for its student body. Sponsored by the school’s Multi-cultural Club and History Club, the event spotlights the talents of RBR Visual and Performing Arts Academy students in highlighting the timeless contributions of African Americans to American society.

At the 2016 event held last week in the RBR auditorium, Principal Risa Clay greeted her students by explaining the reason we celebrate this month, stating that “it is imperative that Americans learn the complete history of the United States. All students should study and celebrate the history of all people. It is by knowing and learning about others that we continue to grow and learn from each another and better understand each other.”

LITTLE SILVER: RBR SENDS EIGHT TO ALL-STATE

AllStateHonorsChoirsEight Visual and Performing Arts vocal majors will be representing Red Bank Regional in the prestigious All-State Chorus, during concert events scheduled for November and February in Newark and Atlantic City.

Each year, thousands of student vocalists audition for a chance to be part of an elite group of New Jersey’s finest high school singers — and when the prestigious All-State Chorus convenes for the 2014-2015 school year, featured among the assembled voices will be eight students from the Visual and Performing Arts program at Red Bank Regional High School.

Representing RBR in the Mixed Chorus, a choir composed of 350 male and female voices, will be Alexa DeAnna (Keansburg), Jade Glab (Belmar) and Shannon O’Donnell (Little Silver). Taking part in the 150-voice Women’s Chorus will be Mackenzie Clark (Shrewsbury), Jaclyn Gisondi (Shrewsbury), Jazmin Graham (Belmar), Lauren O’Brien (Middletown), and Dannielle Wolf (Shrewsbury).
