Press release from Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School

Redefining “The Sandwich Generation,”a group of charity-minded students at Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School have cooked up a tasty fundraiser to benefit local food banks.

Now through November 19, the Character Education Club at RFH is running their new “Take a Bite out of Hunger” initiative, during which local merchants and students will be selling student-designed sandwich creations and donating a portion of the proceeds to “Students Change Hunger 2014!”

The “Students Change Hunger 2014!” campaign, running from September 15 through November 21, challenges all New Jersey Schools to collect as much food as possible for their local food bank. The proceeds from “Take a Bite out of Hunger” will benefit the Food Banks of Monmouth and Ocean counties.

In addition to lots of good eating, healthy competition will be taking place on a few fronts. Locals Foodery on East River Road in Rumson and Sickles Market on Harrison Avenue in Little Silver are each hoping to sell the higher number of sandwiches and be declared the champ. At RFH, it will be freshmen and sophomores squaring off against juniors and seniors in the October sandwich selling initiative.
