Red Bank Regional’s Matt Reardon led all scorers with 26 points, but the Bucs had no answer to the hot hand of Ocean Township’s Jake Talarico, who knocked down six three-pointers Monday. Playing at home, the Spartans won, 65-58, to advance in the boys’ B North Central Group 3 playoffs. Shore Sports Zone was there with its video cameras to catch the action.
In other state championship action, the Lady Bucs of RBR topped Steinert, 57-54 to advance in the Group 3 tournament.
At the Albert E. Martin Classic final Wednesday night, Ranny School freshman Bryan Antoine scored 27 points as the Panthers topped Red Bank Regional, 67-51, in front of a capacity crowd in Little Silver. High school basketball returned to the Greater Red Bank Green Friday night with Red Bank Regional grabbing a win in its season-opener on the road in Wall Township.
Meanwhile, over in Rumson, the Rumson-Fair Haven Lady Bulldogs dropped one to Manasquan, and their male counterparts lost to the Manasaquan boys on the road as R-FH scoring star Brendan Barry sat out the game with an injury.
Four Red Bank Catholic ballcarriers scored touchdowns and the defense held Colts Neck scoreless in a 25-o road win Saturday afternoon. Week three of the 2015 high school football season kicked off with Friday night victories by Red Bank Regional and Red Bank Catholic, and the video cameras of Shore Sports Zone were there.
On the road at Ocean Township, the RBR Bucs’ 16-6 win was highlighted by an 88-yard TD by Matt Reardon on a a Jack Navitsky pass to end the third quarter. Reardon also busted up Ocean’s attempt for two after its lone touchdown. The Bucs are now 3-0 on the season.

How did your high school football team do Friday night? Pretty darn well, if you’re talking about Rumson-Fair Haven, Red Bank Catholic or Red Bank Regional, as this monster highlight reel from Shore Sports Zone shows.
Playing at home, the R-FH Bulldogs topped the Matawan Huskies 17-0 in a game with a scoreless second half. Quarterback Michael O’Connor connected with sophomore receiver Elijah McAllister for a 16-yard touchdown pass: check it out at the start of the reel.
Fast-forward to 5:50 if you’re in a rush to see how Eddie Hahn and the 2014 state champion RBC Caseys played against St. Joe’s of Metuchen. A week after putting the Caseys in the capable hands of backup QB Colin Shaughnessy, Hahn returned from injury for his first appearance of the season by tossing three TDs, including a 49-yarder to Mike Wilen, who also ripped an 80-yard TD run against the Falcons.
Then zap ahead to 9:40 to see highlights of Colts Neck at RBR, where a Matt Reardon interception sparked an offensive blitzkrieg that ended with a 30-0 blowout win for the Bucs, their second straight.
