HOCKEY: RBC TOPS OCEAN 4-2 AT ARMORY

HOCKEY: GARAVENTE SHINES AS RFH TOPS SJV

Rumson-Fair Haven’s Robbie Garavente scored four goals and Conor Deverin added a pair of goals and three assists as the Bulldogs scored eight straight goals after trailing Saint John Vianney 2-1 in the second period. Watch the Shore Sports Zone highlights from the Red Bank Armory.

RFH is ineligible for the state tournament after going over the limit on disqualifications with a December brawl with Red Bank Regional, but the Bulldogs now advance to the semifinals of the Hanchden Cup bracket in the Shore Conference Tournament.

RBC WINS AS HAHN GETS CAREER 1,000TH

Red Bank Catholic’s Eddie Hahn scored 18 to pass the 1,000-point career milestone as the Caseys keep their Shore Conference Tournament hopes alive at home Tuesday.

Hahn hit back-to-back three-pointers in the fourth quarter to reach the milestone and give RBC a 12-point lead. Matawan stormed back and closed it to within two late in the game, but Evan Madigan closed the game out with free throws and give the Caseys a 67-63 win.  Shore Sports Zone has the highlights and post-game reaction. 

With a 9-11 record, RBC can make the tournament field with wins against Jackson Liberty on Friday and Saint John Vianney on Saturday.  

RBC UPSET ENDS RFH 13-GAME WIN STREAK

Rumson-Fair Haven’s Brendan Barry scored 20 in the fourth quarter as the Bulldogs surged from a 12-point deficit to take a 0ne-point lead in the final minute. But the Bulldogs just couldn’t put Red Bank Catholic away Saturday. Evan Madigan’s jumper in the closing seconds sealed the 56-55 road win for RBC and ended a 13-game Bulldogs win streak. RFH GRID STARS CHOOSE COLLEGES

Three members of the state champion Rumson-Fair Haven Regional football team made their college commitments official at a signing-day event in Rumson Wednesday. Shore Sports Zone was there to speak with the players.

RBR TRIO SIGNS FOR COLLEGE FOOTBALL

After a coaching change at Syracuse University, Red Bank Regional standout receiver Sadiq Palmer reassessed his offers to play college football. He was one of three members of the Buc team that had its best season in a generation to sign for college play on Wednesday. Shore Sports Zone was there to talk to the scholar-athletes about their futures.

RFH TOPS RBR AS BARRY LEADS

Rumson-Fair Haven’s Brendan Barry scored 27 points as the Bulldogs used strong defense in the 4th quarter to hold off Ridge Road rival Red Bank Regional in Rumson Saturday. Matt Reardon had 17 for the Bucs and Teddy Sourlis 12 for the Bulldogs, who have now won 12 straight games.  Shore Sports Zone has those highlights and more here.

HOCKEY: RBC GOES THROUGH THE ROOF IN WIN

An unusual pass through the roof trusses sparked a three-goal surge in the final 1:22 of play as Red Bank Catholic topped Rumson-Fair Haven on the ice at the Red Bank Armory Wednesday. After Will Catalono put R-FH in the lead with six minutes to go, Kyle Amato tied things up, and then the Caseys’ Evan Hoey sent a pass that went through the roof supports and fell down to Alec Mintz, who delivered the game winner. RFH WINS AS BARRY SETS NEW BAR

Rumson-Fair Haven’s Brendan Barry scored 23 points, including a three-pointer at the first-half buzzer, to make him the Bulldogs’ all-time leading scorer in a 53-48 home victory over Manasquan.

With the milestone, Barry surged past Palvin Williams, a 1973 Rumson graduate who flew in from the Dominican Republic to witness the shattering of a record that stood for 43 years.

It was senior night at the Red Bank Armory as Evan Hoey and Alec Mintz had one goal and two assists to propel Red Bank Catholic to a 4-3 win against Brick Township  Wednesday night. RBC MUTES PALMER PARTY

After being held scoreless for two quarters, Red Bank Regional’s Sadiq Palmer finally notched his 1,000th career point Tuesday, finishing the night with 12 against rival Red Bank Catholic and joining an elite club of 15 RBR hoopsters to pass that milestone. But the Caseys got the homecourt win, 51-40, on strong play by junior Terrence Calandrillo, who scored 15.  Shore Sports Zone was there with its video cameras to catch the action.

OUTDOOR CLASSIC HOCKEY: R-FH 7, RBC 5


Fans lined the boards and the upper terrace of the Navesink Country Club in Middletown Saturday night for the annual Winter Classic hockey game, pitting Red Bank Catholic against Rumson-Fair Haven. Connor Deverin and Robbie Garavante scored two goals apiece as the Bulldogs jumped out to a 4-2 lead after two periods and held on to win, 7-5. RBR BOYS END COLTS NECK WIN STREAK

Red Bank Regional’s Ben Sprauer sank two free throws with 10 seconds to go to help RBR score a 48-45 win at Colts Neck Thursday. RBR sophomore Devin Cooper led all scorers with 20, and Sadiq Palmer fouled out just one point shy of 1,000, which he’ll go for next Tuesday against Red Bank Catholic. Evan Hoey’s hat trick paced Red Bank Catholic to a home win at the Red Bank Armory Ice Complex Wednesday night. COLTS NECK TOPS RED BANK CATHOLIC

Lloyd Daniels scored  28 points for Colts Neck as the Cougars beat Red Bank Catholic, 53-46, in Red Bank Monday night. Colts Neck has won seven straight games to improve to 7-1 on the season. Shore Sports Zone has the video highlights.

RFH CRUISES ON BARRY’S 29

Rumson-Fair Haven’s Brendan Barry delivered 29 points to grab MVP honors for the second straight year as the Bulldogs handed Gill-St. Bernard its first loss of the season, 66-49, in the Hoop Group Boardwalk Showcase in Long Branch Saturday.  Collin McDevitt nailed three straight three pointers in the third quarter to spark a double digit lead. RFH is now 5-1 since Barry has returned from wrist surgery in early December.

HOCKEY: POINT CLAWS BACK TO TIE R-FH

Ryan Carr delivered a hat trick, including the final two goals of the third period, as Point Pleasant came back from a 4-2 deficit in the third to tie Rumson-Fair Haven Tuesday at the Red Bank Armory. Chase Dorworth had two goals for RFH.  Shore Sports Zone was there to bring these highlights.

ANTOINE-LED RANNEY TAKES MARTIN CLASSIC

At the Albert E. Martin Classic final Wednesday night, Ranny School freshman Bryan Antoine scored 27 points as the Panthers topped Red Bank Regional, 67-51, in front of a capacity crowd in Little Silver. Antoine scored 88 points in the three games and was named tournament MVPShore Sports Zone has the video highlights.

RBR, RANNEY TO FACE OFF IN MARTIN CLASSIC

Sadiq Palmer scored 22 and sophomore Matt Reardon put up 14 as host and defending champs Red Bank Regional topped Central Regional, 58-35, at the Albert E. Martin Classic in Little Silver Monday. 

Meanwhile, with four freshmen on the starting squad, Ranney School, led by Bryan Antoine’s 34 points, ran away from Sayreville, 71-57 in a dunkfest. Shore Sports Zone has the video highlights of those two games and more.

RBR ADVANCES IN MARTIN TOURNEY

Sophomore Devin Cooper poured in 18 to lead all scorers as defending Albert E. Martin Classic champs Red Bank Regional busted open a 24-15 halftime advantage in Little Silver Sunday. The Bucs went on to win, 58-37, and advance to the semifinals against Central Regional Monday afternoon. Shore Sports Zone has the video highlights.
