RUMSON OUTDRAWS ASBURY IN GUN BUYBACK

HOT-TOPIC_01A two-day gun-buyback program aimed at getting unwanted firearms out of circulation ended with a bit of a bang this weekend.

Police in affluent, suburban Rumson collected more weapons than their counterparts in urban Asbury Park.

The outcome surprised even Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni, whose office oversaw the program. And it made the anonymous donor who funded the program look “brilliant,” he told redbankgreen.

RUMSON: GUN BUYBACK, NO QUESTIONS ASKED

AUTHORITIES_RUMSON2Rumson is one of two Monmouth County towns that will serve as collection sites Friday and Saturday for a gun buyback program.

Weapons may be surrendered anonymously, with no questions asked, at the borough police department and at a site in Asbury Park under a program run by the county prosecutor’s office.

Michael Ruzzano, age 33, from Beacon Boulevard in Keansburg, NJ, arrested on August 31, 2013 by Patrolman Charles Higgins on a Contempt of Court warrant issued by the Sayreville Municipal Court. He was held on $247.00 bail.

BUSY HOLIDAYS FOR MIDDLETOWN POLICE

call-in-the-authorities• On December 28, 2011 Detective Adam Finck arrested Jose Luciano, age 32, from Reidway Place in Freehold, NJ, as a result of an investigation into a burglary at a residence on Cypress Neck Road in the Lincroft section of Middletown. Police say Luciano was identified after a witness observed him leaving the residence.

Luciano was arrested after police in Middlesex County took him into custody on other charges. He was being held on the Middletown charges at the Middlesex County Jail on $35,000.00 bail set by Judge Richard Thompson.
