LINCROFT: VISITING BROOKDALE’S UNDEAD

haunted-theater-a-haunted-attraction-nj_4009-6114677The friendly staff of Brookdale Haunted Theater creaks open the doors of the community college’s Performing Arts Center for the latest edition of their live-action eekscursion, beginning this Friday night.

It’s the longest established live haunted-house attraction on the greater Red Bank Green — and even if the real-life horrors of Superstorm Sandy forced it to go truly dark a couple of Octobers back, Brookdale Haunted Theater managed to rise again, undead and undaunted, for a successful 2013 season of the witch.

The hooded goblins and snooded ghouls are once again at large on the Lincroft campus of Brookdale Community College, as the walk-through frightfest commandeers the school’s Performing Arts Center for two pre-Halloweekends.

Created and performed by past and present members of the school’s Theater Club program, the fright factory ushers patrons into the PAC’s auditorium (parking lot 2 at BCC), splits them into groups of 10 to 15, and guides them through a winding corridor that features live-action dioramas, scarifying skits and the dreaded pop-out (which is to horror as the pun is to humor).

For a ticket price of $10 ($8 BCC staff and seniors, $5 kids and students), the creepy crew runs tour groups through its backstage maze of interactive fright environments beginning 7 pm, Friday through Sunday nights (October 17 to 19, and 24 to 26), with “Fear-Free” tours for younger crowds running from 2 to 4 pm on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Tickets are available at the creaking door; more info at (732)224-2411.

Remember: Nothing makes a Red Bank friend happier than to hear "I saw you on Red Bank Green!"
