The Star-Ledger has the story, which quotes an official describing a “horrible, horrible” accident.

Two young adults—a man and a woman—were killed when the westbound Acura in which they were traveling apparently spun out of control on a wet road surface into an eastbound dumptruck. The truck was subsequently struck by the bus, according to reports.

Mayor Tom Hall told radio station 1010WINS.com that the two people killed appeared to be of college age.

Two men in the dumptruck were moderately injured and taken to Riverview Medical Center, and the bus driver suffered minor injuries.

The accident occured at about 8:15a near the intersection of Hilltop Circle, a short distance west of the Parkway 109 interchange. Local residents say the stretch of roadway attracts speeders, and Middletown Police Lt. Craig Weber told the Ledger that the cause of the accident “appears to be excessive speed.”

Traffic on the Parkway was backed up for miles, according to the Ledger.
