AUTUMN 2007, BROAD STREET

Img_9631A dark quilt of clouds lies low over the sunlit intersection of Broad Street, Reckless Place and Harding Road late this morning.

Hold onto your hats, and keep an eye on those shingles.

The National Weather Service is forecasting a windy couple of days, with steady breezes at around 25 mph and gusts of up to 50 mph this afternoon and tonight.

The NWS has issued a wind advisory. Here’s the text:

…WIND ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1 AM EST TUESDAY…

A STRONG COLD FRONT HAS MOVED THROUGH THE REGION. THIS FRONT,
COUPLED WITH A DEVELOPING LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM OVER SOUTHERN NEW
ENGLAND WILL PRODUCE STRONG WINDS ACROSS THE ENTIRE REGION THROUGH
TONIGHT.

WEST TO NORTHWEST WINDS IN THE 15 TO 25 MPH WILL INCREASE TO 20
TO 30 MPH AND REMAIN STRONG AND GUSTY THROUGH TONIGHT. WIND GUSTS
TO 50 MPH ARE EXPECTED.

A WIND ADVISORY MEANS THAT WINDS OF 35 MPH OR STRONGER ARE
EXPECTED. WINDS OF THIS MAGNITUDE CAN MAKE DRIVING DIFFICULT…
ESPECIALLY FOR HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES. DOWNED TREE LIMBS OR TREES
COULD ALSO TAKE DOWN POWER LINES. WINDS ARE TYPICALLY STRONGER ON
BRIDGES AND OTHER ELEVATED STRUCTURES. THEREFORE… USE EXTRA
CAUTION.
