CONVICTION IN 2006 ATTEMPTED RAPE

Today’s Asbury Park Press reports that a Red Bank man was found guilty in Superior Court, Freehold yesterday of a break-in and attempted rape in May, 2006.

Citing information from Monmouth County Prosecutor Luis Valentin, the Press reports that 25-year-old Reyes Lozano-Lozano broke into the woman’s bedroom at about 4:30a and tried to assault her. She screamed and awoke her sister, who was also sleeping in the room.

The women recognized the assailant as the husband of the victim’s friend.

A 2006 article in the Press reported that Lozano-Lozano lived on Oakland Street and that the crime occurred on Monmouth Street. The victim at the time was reported to be 22 years old.

Lozano-Lozano is scheduled to be sentenced March 14 by Judge Edward M. Neafsey and faces up to 10 years in prison, the Press reports.
