SIMS PLEADS NOT GUILTY

Suspect1

Appearing in state Superior Court in Freehold to answer three attempted-murder charges and related weapons counts, Anthony Sims Jr. pleaded not guilty yesterday, the Asbury Park Press reports.

Sims, 19, of Eatontown was arrested in a drug raid in Highlands on Feb. 2 after a two-month manhunt that followed the shootings of two men and the attempted shooting of third man at the Montgomery Terrace public housing apartments last Nov. 26.

The victims were said to be brothers. Both were hospitalized and have since been released, though one is “still undergoing rehabilitative therapy for a neck wound that left him partially paralyzed at the time,” the Press reports.

Sims was indicted by a Monmouth County Grand Jury last month, and is being held in the county lockup on $3 million bail.
