Hair” is back, and not only at the Public Theater in New York. A staging of the breakthrough rock musical is also in the works at the fabulous old Carousel building at the foot of the Asbury Park boardwalk.

But major problems had to be addressed to convert the former home of an amusement ride into a theater, including the “eight inches” of guano on the floor — birds had overtaken the long-vacant space — and the fact that the circular building is filled with windows, which presents a challenge when you’re trying to sell tickets to a show with ample, uninhibited nudity.
