Here’s hoping for less-ominous weather than we’ve had recently when residents gather for the official opening of the borough dock Monday evening.
Fair Haven officials have scheduled a ribbon-cutting ceremony Monday to mark the reopening of the borough dock on the Navesink River at the foot of Fair Haven Road.
The structure, build in the 1970s and last updated in 1984, features a gazebo and a bait-cutting station for fishermen.
The cost of the overhaul, which also included new decking, rails and a seating area at the entrance, was budgeted at $200,000 before unexpected bulkhead problems arose last summer.
The opening is slated for 6p and will be followed by the regular bimonthly meeting of the mayor and council at nearby borough hall.
The recreation department plans a series of “Sounds at Sunset” concerts on the dock in coming weeks. Details were not yet available on the borough website.
