At the picnic that followed the parade for Red Bank’s Centennial last year, Mayor Pasquale Menna was telling everyone he wanted to make the gathering at Count Basie Field an annual event.

And so it shall be, weather permitting. This Saturday, borough residents are invited to return to the sports complex for a couple of hours of food, music and neighborly camaraderie known as Red Bank Day.

A tour of historic homes in the borough is scheduled for Sunday.

The  picnic is free and open to all residents, with food once again supplied by SuperFoodtown and music by the Red Bank Middle School band and others.

It runs from 11a to 3p. As of Monday morning, the weather forescast is for partly sunny skies and temperatures in the high 60s.

The following day, Councilman Ed Zipprich and Historic Preservation Commission Chairman George Bowden will host a tour of historic homes in town.

Participants will ride in a horsedrawn carriage that leaves from the Galleria Red Bank on Bridge Avenue at 1p and the tour will last until approximately 4 pm.

Those wishing to participate should be at the Galleria at 1p.

For more information contact Recreation Director Bob Evans at 732.530.2782 or Deputy Clerk Pamela Borghi at 732.530.2797.
