Citizens and police in both Red Bank and Fair Haven have scheduled events as part of Tuesday’s National Night Out anti-crime and anti-drug-abuse effort scheduled across the U.S.
In Red Bank, elected officials plan to gather at 6p with residents at the pocket park at Shrewsbury Avenue and Drs. James Parker Boulevard.
From there, starting at 6:15, participants will walk about one mile to borough hall, where police will have a display of crime-fighting equipment such as a battering ram, ballistic shields and radar equipment.
The equipment will be on display from 6 to 9p.
Fair Haven’s event, the town’s seventh in connection with the national movement, will be held at the Youth Center behind the police station beginning at 7p.
It will feature a dunk tank sponsored by the Fair Haven PBA, a special guest appearance by McGruff the Crime Dog, a Karate Demonstration and live musical entertainment by The Blue Mood Band.
