THREE ARRESTED IN WEST SIDE BEAT-DOWN

just_inRed Bank police have arrested three juveniles on charges they viciously attacked an 18-year-old borough man late Tuesday night.

The suspects — borough residents aged 15, 16 and 17 — are in custody in the Monmouth County Youth Detention Facility, according to police Capt. Steve McCarthy. Their names were not released.

The victim remains hospitalized at Riverview Medical Center with head trauma, McCarthy said.

As previously reported on redbankgreen, police responded to the Montgomery Terrace apartments at 10:50p Tuesday following reports of fracas. They found a crowd dispersing, but no fight, and no victim.

Five minutes later, McCarthy said, another call alerted police to a beating victim at a home on Shrewsbury Avenue. The man, whose name police have not released, had been injured at Montgomery Terrace and transported to his parents’ home, he said.

An investigation turned up evidence of that the victim and the 15-year-old had a dispute over a personal item — police aren’t saying what it was — that led to the juvenile “striking the victim repeatedly until he fell to the ground, where he kicked him a number of times,” McCarthy said.

Then the two other suspects joined in, repeatedly kicking the victim in the head, McCarthy said.

The youngest of the suspects was arrested at his home Thursday, and the other two were taken into custody today, according to police. All three face charges of aggravated assault.
