MONMOUTH BOAT CLUB SAILOR SHINES

Monmouth Boat Club in Red Bank was the host Saturday for the Woodpussy National Championship regatta, an annual event featuring a class of small sailboats known as woodpussies.  The club is believed to have the nation’s largest fleet of the vessels.

Under spectacular skies in cool weather, the regatta featured mostly local boats, but included some from as far away as Long Island. The club’s own Doug Vought came away the winner after a series of races opposite the Red Bank/Fair Haven border.

Separate races featured the slightly larger two-person Albacore sailboats.

redbankgreen was out there on the race committee boat manned by event chairman Les Hathaway and Albacore fleet captain Keith Johnson, and came away with these pics.
