POLICE SAY ‘NOTHING BIG’ HAPPENING AT RBR

just_in

Panicked reports of ‘men with guns’ running through Red Bank Regional High School late this morning are erroneous, Little Silver police tell redbankgreen.

Major media outlets have been calling the police department to check on reports, also said to centered on Red Bank Middle School, Little Silver Sgt. Dan Shaffery says.

But there’s “nothing ongoing,” and a situation at the high school was “nothing big” and has been “defused.” Shaffery says.

Shaffery said he could not immediately provide more information. A press release will be issued later today.

redbankgreen was alerted by a local business owner, who said a student employee had texted him that “men with guns” were running through the high school.

A subsequent text from the student made it clear that the student hadn’t actually witnessed any such activity, which was then being described as police officers chasing “three guys from Long Branch” through the lunch room.

Remember: Nothing makes a Red Bank friend happier than to hear "I saw you on Red Bank Green!"
