The Asbury Park Press reported Friday that two Long Branch men were arrested and charged for their alleged roles in a string of recent bank robberies featuring a hoodie-wearing thief.
Targets included financial institutions in Red Bank, Middletown, Eatontown and Rahway.
Assistant Monmouth County Prosecutor Peter Warshaw told the Press that Christiano DeSouza-Pessoa, 25, is charged with four counts of second-degree robbery for the in-county robberies. DeSouza-Pessoa also was charged by Rahway police in connection with a bank robbery there, Warshaw told the Press, but Rahway police would not release any information about those charges Friday night, the newspaper reported.
Giancarlo M. Campagna, 23, also of Long Branch, is charged with second-degree robbery in connection with the Eatontown robbery, Warshaw said.
DeSouza-Pessoa was being held in the Monmouth County jail, Freehold Township, in lieu of $1,050,000 bail. Campagna was being held at the jail in lieu of $50,000 bail, the Press reported.
