Red Bank isn’t done showing its support for Haiti just yet.
More than two months after the earthquake that devastated the Caribbean nation, locals are again rallying to provide relief.
“Helping Haiti,” a community benefit concert sponsored by Pilgrim Baptist Church, will be held at 6p Saturday at the auditorium at Red Bank Middle School.
Aside from a full lineup of performers, there will be a silent auction featuring the work of Haitian artist Martino Dorce.
Admission is free, but there will be contribution period during the concert. Donations of $100 or more will be publicly recognized at the concert. Proceeds are going to the Aslan Youth Ministries Project in Ouanaminthe, Haiti.
Performers expected at Saturday’s concert include: the Seacoast Revival Mass Choir, the Emmanuel Baptist Church Youth Choir, Nancy Scharff, the Red Bank Middle School Band, The Pilgrim Baptist Church Performing Arts Dancers and a handful more.
The concert is another in a couple of different efforts by locals to gather support for Haiti. Earlier this month, the middle school, in conjunction with the borough and some businesses, held a shoe drive that netted more than 7,500 shoes. The middle school also held a benefit concert earlier this month.
