Will this year’s sleepy election contest for Red Bank mayor and two council seats finally stir to life?

It will get its best chance Wednesday night, when the West Side Community Group holds its fourteenth annual candidates’ night at River Street Commons.

All five candidates are expected to attend.

They are:

• Mayor Pasquale Menna, a Democrat running unopposed for a second four-year term.

• Incumbent council member Sharon Lee, a Democrat seeking another three-year term

• Incumbent council member Kathy Horgan, also a Democrat

• Republican challenger Rob Lombardi, who ran for council last year

• Joe Mizzi, a Republican and treasurer of the local GOP

The format for the event, which runs from 7p to 9:30p, includes an opening statement of up to three minutes by each candidate; one hour of questions from the audience; and three-minute closing statements.

West Side Community Group president Amy Goldsmith will moderate.

The entrance to River Street Commons — the former River Street School — is at 49 Catherine Street. Off-street parking is limited.

For more information, call Amy Goldsmith at 732-747-0306 or Joyce Williams at 732-741-3715.
