POT BUST IN MIDDLETOWN

authorities3

Middletown police arrested an 18-year-old Keansburg man and a 16-year-old juvenile on intent-to-distrubute charges after finding more than five ounces of pot in the car in which they were traveling Sunday afternoon, according to a department press release.

Here’s the full text:

On October 17, 2010 at approximately 1:40pm Patrolman Christopher Clark of the Middletown Township Police Department was on patrol in the area of Woodland Drive when he observed a vehicle fail to come to a complete stop at a stop sign. Ptl. Clark conducted a motor vehicle stop of the vehicle at which point the car pulled over and the driver and passenger immediately exited the car.

Ptl. Clark approached the driver, identified as Jay Glatthorn, age 18, from Braden Place in Keansburg, NJ, and asked for his driver’s credentials. When Glatthorn opened the car door to retrieve his paperwork out of the glove box, Ptl. Clark recognized the strong smell of raw marijuana coming from the interior of the vehicle.

Ptl. Clark was then able to see a large, clear plastic bag which contained a green vegetation type substance which Ptl. Clark recognized as Marijuana on the floor of the vehicle just behind the driver’s seat. Ptl. Clark retrieved the bag of Marijuana and placed both Glatthorn and the passenger, a 16 year old juvenile, under arrest. Both subjects were then transported to police headquarters.

Glatthorn was charged with possession of over 50 of Marijuana (approximately five ounces), possession with the intent to distribute Marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail was set at $10,000.00 with a 10% option by Judge Berube. The juvenile was charged with possession of over 50 grams of Marijuana and possession with intent to distribute Marijuana. He was released.

Ptl. Clark was assisted by Ptl. Keith Hirschbein.
