Red Bank police investigating reports of gunshots late Wednesday night found a spent bullet, department spokesman Captain Darren McConnell tells redbankgreen.
The damaged projectile, found on West Sunset Avenue near Leighton Avenue, appears to confirm reports of four or five shots fired shortly before 11p Wednesday, McConnell said.
No injuries or property damage has been reported or discovered, McConnell said. Police canvassed the area yesterday, he said, and the investigation is continuing.
The caliber of the bullet has not yet been determined because of damage to it, McConnell said.
Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call Sergeant Michael Frazee of the detective bureau at 732-530-2179.
