A Red Bank man, already in jail on burglary charges, faces additional charges for his alleged connection in the burglary of a Little Silver home this summer, borough police said.
After Little Silver police collected and compared DNA with the State Police, they charged Tujuane Smith, 36, on Wednesday with burglary and theft for a June 17 burglary at a home on Bennett Lane, Little Silver Detective Sgt. Daniel Shaffery said.
Smith is currently incarcerated at Monmouth County Correctional Facility for a burglary police say he committed in Eatontown.
The burglary occurred at 1:48p in June, and at the time police had hoped physical evidence left at the scene would lead them to whoever committed the crime. Jewelry was taken from the home, police said.
A second man, Louis DeAngelo, was arrested a month after the burglary. DeAngelo, of Tinton Falls, was charged with conspiracy.
At the time, a similar incident occurred that day on Silverwhite Avenue Red Bank, where the burglar took off with cash and jewelry. Police haven’t indicated that Smith was involved in that crime.
