THE BRIDES ARE BACK IN RED BANK

Wedding season is over, but there’s no such thing as planning too early for next year’s, right?

RiverCenter thinks so. Therefore Red Bank is host, for the second time this year, to Wedding Walk, a bride-to-be-minded affair that shines the spotlight on all the business that can help make getting hitched go off without a hitch.

After a successful inaugural Wedding Walk in March, RiverCenter Executive Director Nancy Adams said local merchants pushed to bring the event back.

“It showcased the town really well and there really was no downside to it,” she said. “Businesses are still getting residual business from it.”

As in March, downtown will be festooned Saturday with the white bows and flower petals that evoke the anxious fluttering of a wedding day heart. Nearly 40 businesses will participate, Adams said, and more than 200 women, from all over the tri-state region, have registered.

“And they each bring two, three, four, five, 10 people with them,” she said.

Translation: the walk creates serious buzz for Red Bank in a time when the economy is sluggish at best, and the downtown has suffered from it.

Dubbed Wedding Walk II, the event starts at 9a at the Oyster Point Hotel and ends at 4p at the Molly Pitcher Inn, where future brides can drink, mingle and enter for a chance to win a bevy of prizes.

“That’s what brides are all about. They’re all Bridezillas,” Adams said. “They all want the prize.”
