Governor Chris Christie has nominated Peter Warshaw Jr. to succeed Luis Valentin as Monmouth County Prosecutor, according to reports by the Associated Press and Asbury Park Press.
Warshaw, 49, of Middletown, has served as first assistant prosecutor in Freehold since 2006, 20 years after he joined the office. Prior to that, according to the Press, he was director of the major crimes homicide unit for 11 years.
Warshaw’s nomination requires approval by the state Senate.
Valentin, of Hudson County, was appointed to a five-year term as prosecutor by Acting Governor Dick Codey in 2005.
