Let the maple syrup flow!
The winners of Red Bank’s annual Holiday Home Decorating Contest have been selected, with winning households taking home half-gallon jugs of maple syrup made in Vermont by Jules Prown, father of event co-sponsor David Prown of Prowns Home Improvements.
And this year, the top two winners are brothers who own homes on the West Side.
Second place: 60 Leighton Avenue, home of Chris & Jane Hussey. (Click to enlarge)
The first and second place winners are Patrick and Chris Hussey, respectively. Patrick Hussey said he had no idea his brother was in the contest.
“That’s strange,” he said. “I haven’t even seen his house yet.”
Well, now the Husseys have reason to throw some extra pancakes on the griddle Christmas morning. They also received gift certificates from SuperFoodtown and Prowns.
Third place: 56 South Street, home of Tim Blankey & Audrey Oldoerp. (Click to enlarge)
But the syrup alone was reason to enter into the contest, said third place winner Audrey Oldoerp, of South Street.
Before carrying her three children one of them firmly attached to her right leg to the council chambers to accept her award, a Oldoerp said, “My son, he’s just happy he got maple syrup. That’s what it’s all about.”
