Borough Fire Chief Frank Salerno tells redbankgreen that there were no injuries resulting from the blaze, reported at about 10:30p at 9 Alden Terrace.
Salerno said he and two borough police officers, responding to a report of entrapment, entered the house and found the residents had safely evacuated. The fire was quickly brought under control, he said.
The fire appeared to have started on the first floor and made it’s way to the second floor of the two-story structure, confining itself to the western end of the house, according to Salerno.
Monmouth County fire inspectors are looking into the cause. Volunteer firefighters and other emergency personnel from Little Silver, Red Bank and Shrewsbury responded, with Shrewsbury’s 92-foot aerial ladder put into service.
