WEATHER: SLUSH, THEN A RAIN FLUSH

hot-topic rightRed Bank-area commuters awoke to a mix of snow, rain and black ice Tuesday morning.

By mid-morning, temperatures were expected to rise above freezing, setting the stage for a day of rain, according to a Weather Channel forecast.

The National Weather Service says the rain will last through 4p, dropping up to an inch of H2O.

Here’s the extended forecast:

Today: Rain, mainly before 4pm. High near 41. East wind 13 to 18 mph becoming north. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.

Tonight: A chance of rain. Cloudy, with a low around 34. Northwest wind between 7 and 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Wednesday: A chance of showers, mainly before 1pm. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 44. West wind between 8 and 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 25. Northwest wind between 14 and 16 mph.

Thursday: Partly sunny, with a high near 33. Northwest wind between 8 and 11 mph.

Thursday Night: A chance of snow showers. Cloudy, with a low around 22. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Friday: A chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 33. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Friday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 16.

Saturday: Partly sunny, with a high near 26.

Saturday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 12.

Sunday: Partly sunny, with a high near 25.

Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 15.

Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 30.
