Sam Carotenuto, a lifelong Red Bank resident and lawyer who served many years as borough attorney, has died at age 90.
An obituary on the Asbury Park Press website reports that Carotenuto who also served on the board of ed and did its legal work, and advised the planning and zoning boards in Red bank and other towns died on Monday at Riverview Medical Center.
Here’s an excerpt from the obit:
He was born and raised in Red Bank and was a graduate of the Red Bank Schools and Rutgers University. His education was interrupted by service in the U.S. Army in World War II and was discharged with a rank of Major. Upon completion of service in the military, Sam graduated from Rutgers University School of Law, cum laude in 1949, where he was on the editorial staff of the Rutgers Law Review for two years and Editor in Chief his third year. He was admitted to the New Jersey Bar in 1948 and joined the Reussille Law Firm in 1949 where he was an associate, partner and managing partner until 2000 when he became “of council” to the firm. There was no profession he considered more honorable and for the last ten years he continued to practice law.
