Last week, Where Have I Seen This? ran a shot that several seagull-eyed readers recognized in an instant.
A couple of of them had the location wrong, but their confusion was understandable.
“Hippies use backdoor,” said the window sign we featured. Well, the anachronistic sign turns out to be more common than we realized.
Mary White wrote to say she had just seen one in a deli in North Charleston, South Carolina.
Stephen Mitchell tagged it as the old Butterworth estate, at the corner of Bridge Avenue and East Leonard Street in Red Bank. In fact, the house at the northeast corner of that intersection also has the sign.
Daniel Sullivan wondered if it was from Donovan’s Reef in Sea Bright.
Pat Mason and someone who identified himself only as Jeff got the location of our photo right: a small house at 154 Ocean Avenue in Sea Bright, next door to the now shuttered Gaiters restaurant and pretty much the northeasternmost corner of redbankgreen‘s coverage area.
Thank you all for writing in.
