MENNA DECLARES STATE OF EMERGENCY

just_in1Red Bank Mayor Pasquale Menna issued the following statement shortly after noon Friday:

A Declaration of Emergency is in place in Red Bank.  You will be receiving recorded telephone notifications on our reverse 911 system on your phone and email if you are signed up with our web notification alert.

Residents should prepare by stocking up on essentials at home and avoid any non essential or unnecessary travel.  Outside furniture should be secured.  All shrubbery and limbs left at curbside shall be removed from curbside and placed on private laws and property prior to 6 PM Friday.  Such items in a storm are carried in the storm water basins and clog the system that in turn makes flooding worse.

Secure your pets indoor to protect them. There may be interruption of power in the area if power lines fall.  Do not go near any downed power line or tree.  There is a procedure in place and the OEM will address the problem.  Do not call the Police or Fire unless there is an actual genuine emergency.

I am grateful to the Pilgrim Baptist Church and the United Methodist Church, whose pastors have made their facilities available to our OEM in the event comfort stations may be needed.  The Parks will be off limits and closed as the storm approaches.  Public events outdoors have been cancelled.

I will also attempt to have periodic notices to all who are signed to my Facebook account:  Mayor Pat Menna.

With calmness, preparation and coordination, I am confident that all will be well.  I take this opportunity to thank all our dedicated Fire, First Aid and OEM Volunteers and our Police Department for all that they do for us.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Remember: Nothing makes a Red Bank friend happier than to hear "I saw you on Red Bank Green!"
