HOOFING IT ACROSS THE OCEANIC
While boating on the Navesink River Sunday, Mike McMahon of Little Silver spotted a caravan of six or eight coaches, each drawn by a team of four horses and carrying passengers done up in historical finery, thundering across the Oceanic Bridge from Middletown to Rumson Sunday. McMahon says panels were laid over the open steel grating of the drawbridge section to enable the horses to cross.
Anyone know what this was all about? (Photos by Michael McMahon. Click to enlarge)

I’m surprised RedBankGreen didn’t cover this event! https://themonmouthjournal.com/coaches-carriages-conservation-p2258-1.htm

The Monmouth Conservation Foundation , a county-wide land turst located in Middletowqn celebarted 34 years of preserving land and protecting the natural resources of Monmouth County. They celebrated by bringing a three day event of a historic weekend coaching drive. The Monmouth Coaching Invitional took place this week-end with beautiful antique coaches driving through MCF’s Navesink Highlands greenwasy project area.

I knew the weight limit on the Oceanic Bridge had been reduced a few tons, but I didn’t know we were down to horse and carriages now!
Sorry, couldn’t resist.

Beautiful creatures.
They left feces all over the streets.
Can’t they provide bags to catch droppings like they do in NYC?
Also, the wheels from carriage seem to damage the sound absorbing material placed upon metal bridge in Navesink. Can a reporter investigate this please?
