You have to scroll pretty far down in the National Weather Service forecast to find mention of the sun today.

It’s not the best outlook for would-be participants in the Red Bank Townwide Yard Sale, the 2011 Rumson Boat Race and the Guinness Oyster Festival, among other outdoor events on the Go On Green calendar.

The Weather Channel says we’re in for 2 to 4 inches of rain from Friday into early next week.

Here’s the NWS outlook:

Today: A chance of rain and thunderstorms, then rain and possibly a thunderstorm after 8am. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. High near 75. Sunday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 75. East wind at 7 mph becoming south. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
