Rumson police, continuing a crackdown on illegal alcohol use by minors, arrested three young adults for possession late Sunday night, according to an announcement by Chief Richard Tobias.
The crackdown, coming on the heels of a survey that found heavier-than-expected use of alcohol and drugs by students at Rumson-Fair Haven Regional, also includes a ramped-up effort to publicize such arrests, Tobias tells redbankgreen.
Here’s the full announcement:
On Sunday, May 27, 2012, Lieutenant Scott Paterson and Patrolman Anthony Ciambrone were dispatched to the area of Narumson St., for a report of juvenile subjects screaming profanities. Ptl. Ciambrone arrived on location and observed one adult male, Trevor Pahigian, placing a twelve pack box of Pabst brand beer behind a telephone pole. Upon further investigation it was determined that the additional involved parties had also consumed alcohol. All three subjects were placed under arrest and transported to Rumson Police Headquarters. Trevor Pahigian, 18, Red Bank, and Christopher Callinan, 18, Rumson, were both issued summonses for violations of the Borough Ordinance as well as with criminal violations for underage possession of alcohol. The third subject, Keegan Finn, 18, Fair Haven, was issued a summons for violation of the Borough Ordinance for disorderly conduct.
Tobias said the incident occurred at 11:35 p.m. and that all three defendants were in the street, not on private property, when police arrived.
