Little Silver police are on the hunt for a man wanted in connection with an attempted burglary at midday Sunday.
Here’s an announcement from Detective Greg Oliva, issued shortly after 6 p.m. Monday:
At approximately 1150 am on 6/17/2012 patrol units were dispatched to Grant Place for a burglary attempt in progress.
A black male subject wearing jeans, a gray sweatshirt, and carrying a backpack was confronted by a neighbor who called police approximately 5 to 10 minutes after he witnessed him breaking a window on a side door,in an attempt to gain entry into an unoccupied residence, where he fled into a nearby heavily wooded area after being confronted by the neighbor. No entry was gained to the residence.
A perimeter was established and police K-9 units from Long Branch and the Monmouth County Sheriffs Office were deployed into the wooded area in an effort to locate the suspect with negative findings. Little Silver Police units were assisted by police units from Red Bank, Shrewsbury and Rumson.
