It may seem, at first glance, like the training-wheels version of surfing.
But the athleticism – and the comic whoopsie-daisies – of skimboarding has their passionate devotees.
The sport also has a pro tour, which once again glides into Sea Bright this weekend for the two-day pro/am SkimBash 2012, and is worth a look-see.

Sea Bright Municipal Beach
This is the ninth annual SkimBash, and the fourth stop on the Skim USA Pro/Am Tour, attracting amateur and professional skimboarders from around the country.
All ages, from 5 to over 45, compete for prizes; the Pro division competes for a $2,000 cash purse.
