From Rumson police, Tuesday morning:
A single male actor attempted entry into a West River Road home during the afternoon of 4/8/13. The homeowner, who was inside at the time observed the subject by her front door. He subsequently went to the rear of the home and attempted to force open 2 French doors by pulling them out with force. The alarm was activated and Rumson Police units responded.
The subject was not located. Fair Haven and Little Silver Police units assisted with a perimeter of the area.
Residents are urged to call the Rumson Police (732)842-0500, or 911 if they observe any suspicious persons or vehicles. Door to door solicitors become active in the Spring, and must obtain a permit from Borough Hall to do so. Please contact the Police if someone claims to be a solicitor at your home and does not have a permit.
