RED BANK: JULIO RETAKES THE BASIE STAGE

Julio IglesiasTo All the Crowds He’s Loved Before: Julio Iglesias returns to Red Bank, for a Tuesday night concert at his area venue of choice on Monmouth Street.

We could make our point purely through numbers and statistics — more than 300 million albums sold, multiple major awards, more units moved than any other Latin recording artist — but what use are numbers against the logic of sheer romance; particularly when it’s the ongoing love affair of the Red Bank audience with one of its perennial favorite visitors, Julio Iglesias? The Spanish-born crooner, law school grad, former pro footballer and master of aural sex returns to the Count Basie on Tuesday, April 29, for another encore in his continuing tour behind a well-received album of revisited greatest hits — and not even his own sons’ pop success has managed to dim the spotlight of the now-septuagenarian singer.

Take it here to reserve tickets ($35 – $125) to the 8 pm show — and make it a great excuse for a dinner and a show; whether via the Basie’s combo deal with nearby Pazzo, or for that matter any culinary lead-in to a performer who can bring out the poetry in a pizza slice, or the melody in a microwave burrito.
