TRI-DISTRICT MUSIC FEST TAKES IT OUTSIDE

tridistrict-1352489The June 12 Tri-District Music Festival will feature RFH student musicians along with their counterparts from Knollwood and Forrestdale schools.

An annual tradition for over 17 years, the Tri-District Music Festival brings together talented musicians and singers from Forrestdale School in Rumson and Knollwood School in Fair Haven, as well as from Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School. This year, for the first time, the Festival will be held at the outdoor venue — Victory Park, just off River Road in Rumson.

The performance will take place on Thursday, June 12 at 6 pm, with a rain date scheduled for the same time and place on Friday, June 13.

Students in grades four through eight will participate in the vocal performances, while the orchestra will incorporate students in grades five through eight. The symphonic band and jazz band will include students in grades six through eight.

High school students will be featured in all of the performances, which will be conducted at various points by the Music Directors from all three schools – Sara Marino of Knollwood School, John Lebitsch of Forrestdale School, and Bill Grillo of RFH. Mel Chayette of Knollwood School will be directing the orchestra. Also assisting the students will be Knollwood  School’s Vocal Director Vince Mottern, and  Forrestdale School’s Vocal Director Barbara Leutz.

The evening’s lineup includes Combined Band, Combined Orchestra, Combined Chorus, and Combined Jazz Big Band. The final performance will be a rousing rendition of “God Bless America” featuring all of the student performers.

Admission to the event is free.
