The event is all about Oktoberfest — from the authentic German food to the “unlimited mugs” of beer, to the festive mood that dares to make merry in the face of the encroaching chill. But when Fair Haven hosts its annual seasonal celebration on Saturday, October 4, it will be an occasion that looks ahead to future Fair Haven Days throughout the calendar year.

A fundraiser for the riverside borough’s slate of special events, Oktoberfest returns to its tented area at 786 River Road (the parking lot adjacent to Smart Start Preschool) for a night of revelry between the hours of 6:30 to 10:30 pm. An entry fee of $25 allows attendees 21 years and over to enjoy the food, live music (by Late 4 Lunch), with “authentic Oktoberfest beverages” and sangria available for purchase by the glass, or the popular unlimited-mug option ($5 charge for souvenir mug). There will also be “adult games” to be announced.

Oktoberfest organizers are encouraging RSVPs for all attendees, with advance tickets available for purchase in person at Borough Hall — or online PayPal registration available for individuals or for couples.

Volunteers are also being sought for the event, with prospective helpers invited to sign up here.
