Press release from Red Bank Regional High School
Last year, Red Bank Regional High School awarded the first-ever Principal’s Cup trophy to the school sports team that registered the highest average GPA among its members. For the 2013- 2014 school year, that honor once again goes to the Girls’ Cross Country Team, with a collective GPA of 95.21.
The event was celebrated during a special luncheon which also included the various teams that exhibited the highest GPA for their individual seasons.
The Girls’ Cross Country, obviously, scored that honor for the 2013 fall season. Achieving the highest GPA for the winter season were the Boys’/Girls’ Swim team with a 91.77 GPA; the Girls’ Lacrosse team won the honor for the spring season with a GPA of 94.03.
This year, a new category of Most Improved GPA was established and awarded to the Boys’ Football team, whose GPA rose by 2.5% to 86.3.
RBR Principal Risa Clay addressed the scholar athletes and stated, “We have created the Principal’s Cup, which recognizes, acknowledges and celebrates the teams that strive for excellence. I am always so grateful to see you compete and succeed, but to see you compete academically makes me extra proud. You are true champions in every sense of the word.”
