A predawn fire drove a Rumson family out of their home early Saturday.
The fire, at 3 Sycamore Lane, off Ridge Road, was reported shortly after 4 a.m., and the residents had escaped safely by the time firefighters arrived, said Rumson Fire Chief Bob Halligan.
Property records show the house belongs to Jeffrey and Melissa Osofsky.
Halligan said the fire, which appeared to be electrical in origin, started in the attic, and proved challenging for firefighters to reach.
“It was just stubborn getting in the area where the fire was,” he said, noting that firefighter had to cut through the roof for access.
Volunteer firefighters from Rumson were joined by others from Fair Haven, Little Silver, Middletown, Rumson and Sea Bright.
