Press release from Brookdale Community College.

Residents interested in a career in automotive service and technology are invited to a free information session on the Lincroft campus of Brookdale Community College on Monday, August 24.

Scheduled from 1 to 3 pm, the session will offer attendees a chance to learn about growing career opportunities in the automotive technician field, which is expected to add more than 60,000 new jobs by 2022, according to the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Professionally certified Brookdale instructors will be on hand to discuss the college’s wide range of hands-on automotive training programs, including a two-year degree program offered in partnership with General Motors (GM).

autotech_bays-3941628Students enrolled in the GM program spend half of each semester working at a local dealership or repair facility, earning a salary and professional experience while progressing toward a degree.

“These are affordable, nationally certified training programs that prepare students to start working right away,” said Paul Tucker, chair of Brookdale’s automotive technology department. “And the vast majority of our graduates do just that.”

The information session also includes a tour of the college’s automotive facilities, which include a 12-bay training lab and professional grade classrooms with hydraulic lifts and state-of-the-art tools and equipment.

The information session will be held in the Brookdale Auto Tech Building, Room 102. Parking is in lot 6. For more information call (732)224-2747 or email [email protected].
